The Green Point Urban Park, Cape Town, South Africa

FIFA, the controlling body of international soccer insisted that a new stadium be built at Green Point for the 2010 soccer world cup. The stadium was duly built. The staging of the tournament was regarded as a resounding success more so as this was the first time that the soccer showpiece was staged in Africa. The Cape Town Stadium received very favourable praise. Then everything was over and the new stadium began collecting dust, literally. There was just one little aspect that remained outstanding. During the construction phase, reference was made to the development of an urban park in the stadium precinct. The impression created was that this park would be completed at or before the commencement of the 2010 soccer world cup. Now there was some development and landscaping around the stadium at the time of the world cup. I for one thought that this was the sum total of the urban park that was envisaged for this area. KOLKATA, INDIA...a city with many faces

Kolkata, India projects many faces to the tourist. These include its slums, the colonial parts, the poorly designed and congested parts and then the newer areas with modern city design. The latter include Salt Lake City and the new city in the process of being built. The economic might of India is evident in the newer areas of the City. An overhead metro is nearing completion.The new metro shall complement the existing underground metro. International tourists arriving at the city's dilapidated and dirty airport form a poor first impression of the City. This should be rectified when the new airport is built. This has not happened as of January 2011. The overall impression after completing one's visit of Kolkata is very favourable. The City has much to offer the tourist as the photographs above and the photographs in my future posts shall testify to. Pilanesberg Nature Reserve: Awesome nature viewing from the comfort of my car

It is a crying shame that many of Africa's children have not viewed our awesome array of animals whilst others from the far corners of the globe make it a lifetime goal to come here on Safari to achieve this very goal. In preparation for the big one, my pending trip to Kruger National Park, I decided to do a nature reserve trial run by visiting the Pilanesberg Nature Reserve in the North West Province of South Africa. Yes I am a complete novice when it comes to viewing our animals in the wild and yes I have cried shamefully that I have not exploited these opportunities far earlier in my life. Pilanesberg Nature Reserve is an attractive proposition for the novice game viewer for many reasons. The nature reserve is easily accessible from Johannesburg or Pretoria, it is malaria risk free, it can be done as a day visit, if you select your entry point carefully, you can view the wonders of nature from your fancy car whilst traveling on tarred roads with very little need to stray onto...
